Accessibility Statement

The Standard I Target

benmcgary.com is built against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at Level AA. That is the target, not a certification. Where a page falls short, I want to know so I can fix it.

What Is Built In

• Semantic headings, landmarks, and lists so screen readers can navigate structure instead of guessing at it.
• Full keyboard operation, with visible focus styles on every link, button, and form control.
• Text and interface contrast checked against the 4.5:1 minimum for body copy and 3:1 for large text and controls.
• Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images, and empty alt on decorative marks so they are skipped.
• Labels, error messages, and status text tied to their fields, and forms that never rely on color alone.
• Motion, parallax, and the spotlight effect respect the prefers-reduced-motion setting in your operating system.
• Video and voice reviews carry text transcripts so the content is readable without audio.
• Layouts reflow to 320 pixels wide and tolerate 200 percent text zoom without loss of content.

Known Gaps

Some embedded third-party content, including maps, scheduling widgets, and social embeds, is outside my control and may not meet the same standard. Older imported articles may contain images whose alternative text is still being written. Recorded reviews submitted by visitors are transcribed automatically, and automated transcripts can contain errors until I review them.

Assistive Technology Tested

Pages are checked with VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, NVDA on Windows, keyboard-only navigation, and browser zoom in current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge.
